About Hypnotherapy

How does hypnosis/hypnotherapy work?

Our minds work on two levels - the conscious and the unconscious. We make decisions, think and act with our conscious mind. The unconscious mind controls our habits and our emotions. In hypnosis we can communicate directly with the unconscious mind. This is why it is so quick and easy to change habits of a lifetime with hypnosis.

Hypnosis is not sleep

However it is a deep form of relaxation that you can be guided into and be taught to enable you to take yourself into the deep reaxing state. While in hypnosis you will have an awareness of what is happening, in fact you are hyperaware during hypnosis, and at the end of the session it is likely you will recall what has happened.

Can everyone be hypnotised?

Generally speaking everyone of normal intelligence (with an IQ above 70) can be hypnotised. In fact, every time you daydream you are in a form of hypnosis, if you are deeply engrossed in a movie you are in a form of hypnosis.

Hypnosis is completely safe

It is akin to meditation, visualisation or daydreaming. You are aware and in control at every moment and can terminate the session at any time. If you find that you have an itch you will find that you are able to scratch it and just allow yourself to drift even more into the relaxing state of hypnosis. It is impossible for you to get "stuck" in a state of hypnosis, and you cannot be made to do something that is against your will, as already mentioned your in complete control of your actions and everything you say.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

was created back in the early 1970's by Richard Bandler and John Grinder. NLP has been described as the modelling of excellence. In practical terms it consists of a number of procedures that one can use to create a positive change to one's behaviour.

Advanced hypnotherapy

integrates successful elements of hypnosis, NLP and other therapies as appropriate.

How can hypnotherapy help me stop smoking, lose weight etc?

Because smoking, eating, etc are habits, they are controlled by the unconscious mind. Since hypnosis and NLP work directly on the unconscious, this is the only method that makes sense!

How can hypnotherapy help me overcome anxiety or procrastination?

There is a reason why the problem started. Your unconscious mind holds all your past memories. By accessing your unconscious we can not only find the cause of the problem but also help your release the emotions connected to the problem.

Hypnotherapy is able to help with most situations, every day new techniques are being developed to aid in new ways. If you are unsure if we can help with your specific issue then we welcome you to contact us and we will give you the very best advice.
